Basic information
PLGrid is a nationwide IT infrastructure dedicated to scientistscientists. It provides We provide services and resources from federated polish top 5 supercomputer centers federated in one IT platform. PLGrid offer includes: 2,4 PetaFlops of computing resources and more than 20 PetaByte PetaBytes of storage.
To get access to this powerful sources PLGrid resources you have to be affiliated by Polish Scientific Institution or cooperate with a polish scientist.

How to get acces?
Only a few simple steps are required needed to create an account, which allows you later to get access to all PLGrid services (via web access platform - Portal PLGrid.)).

Sign in
Go to https://portal.plgrid.pl/ to create your account. Fill the registration form with all required information. After your identity has been confirmed you will gain access to computing resource such as: storage, cloud services, software for scientist, project management tools, e-learning tools and the Helpdesk platform - all of this with one login. Your login must start with "plg".

Get an affiliation
Affiliation with by Polish scientific institution Scientific Institution is a mandatory requirement. To You have to be an employee in one to have access to PLGrid services you have to be employee of a polish university. Otherwise User you must provide information about your Supervisor’s affiliation. The Your Supervisor must then confirm User’s identity.your identity and the scientific colaboration with you.
After your identity is confirmed you will gain access to the resources such as: computing or storage resources, cloud platform, software for scientists, project management tools, e-learning tools and Helpdesk platform - all of this in one account!
Get a trial grant
A Resource Grant (tak to bedziemy nazywac?) is an agreement between the User and the PLGrid Infrastructure. This agreement also contains the specification of resources that you have applied for. Upon registration you will receive a trial period to determine your requirements. The trial period consists of 1000 normalized CPU units hours and 40 10 GB of storage for 6 monthsone year per computing center. If you require more resources you can apply for a proper Resource Grant.

Activate a service
The PLGrid Infrastructure provides a variety of tools and services which use your resourcesfor your computations and storage needs. You have access to repository of services via Services Catalogue (in Polish: Katalog Aplikacji i Usług).

1. Set up a work group

A Workgroup is a unit which allows a user/group work group allows user or group of users to negotiate resources with the supercomputer centers. Users can share resources within a Workgroup
2. Get certificate
The Certificate confirms the usersuser's identity within PLG PLGrid Infrastructure. It allows the user you to use the PLGrid services without requiring a your login and password and . Also some applications /or tools require itthe certificate to access them.
3. Get resource grant
For User user who needs more resources than provided by trial grant PLGrid Infrastructure dedicates a "proper resource grant". User must set up a work group, it is a mandatory requirement. Only work group represents represented by its manager is allow to negotiating negotiate the pool of grant's resources. The manager is also responsible for reporting results and publications reached by while working with the grant resources. The work group does not have to be group of users. There can be only one person.
Four steps granting procedureGrants explained in four steps:
1. In Go to "GRANTY" in Portal's menu, then fill and specify your requirements. You must ensure there that some results, posters or publications are expectingexpected.
2. Your request could need a scientific recommendation. Our experts analyze your previous grant's report or reports and the description in your current request.
3. Operation stuff allocates resources to the grant.
4. Work Group Manager reports progresses progress and results of grant usage.

For less experienced users we would like to recommend using resources middlewears. If middlewares for the computations. If you are more advanced, you can use an access resources via ssh SSH protocol.
